BPM Intermediate: From Beginner to Advanced (3 Days)

Best for: process owners, analysts, quality/operations teams, and cross-functional teams who need mapping + analysis + implementation skills.

Duration: 3 days (or 6× half-days)

What you’ll learn

  1. Build consistent, shareable process maps (flowchart, swimlane, SIPOC + BPMN intro)
  2. Analyze processes using structured methods + KPIs

Redesign and prepare implementation plans that stick

Day-by-Day Outline

Day 1 : Fundamentals + End-to-End Mapping

  1. Process thinking and selecting the right process to map
  2. Scoping and levels of detail (high-level to detailed)
  3. SIPOC for clarity (suppliers, inputs, process, outputs, customers)
  4. Workshop: map an end-to-end process (e.g., onboarding, procurement, service request)

Day 2:  Advanced Mapping + Analysis

  1. Advanced swimlanes (handoffs, exceptions, escalation paths)
  2. Introduction to BPMN (the parts you actually need)
  3. Finding waste: delays, rework, duplication, unclear decisions
  4. Root cause analysis (5 Whys + cause/effect thinking)
  5. Intro to metrics: cycle time, lead time, quality, throughput
  6. Workshop: improve an existing “as-is” map into a prioritized improvement list

Day 3: Redesign + Implementation

  1. To-be design principles (simplify, reduce handoffs, reduce variation)
  2. Controls and governance basics (ownership, version control, approvals)
  3. Implementation planning (communication + change management basics)
  4. Workshop: create a to-be map + implementation plan + KPI proposal

Deliverables

  1. As-is and To-be process maps
  2. KPI suggestions + measurement plan
